Watercolor Textures

June 10, 2008

The various textures you can achieve by using different materials on a watercolor wash :

The textures achieved by dabbing a wadded-up aluminium foil and tissue paper on a wash can be used for clouds and rock surfaces. With scrunched-up plastic wrap, you can use it to create foilage of a tree.By scratching with the edge of a credit card on the surface(not shown above), we can achieve textures for landscape painting – for naked trees. You can also use credit card edge as a squeezee to move the paint around. By scratching with razor, we can use create textures for waterfalls or spiderwebs. By rubbing with sandpaper, we can create textures for a brick wall or rock surface.
