Green Chillies

7by 10 inches on 140# watercolor paper using Winsor and Newton watercolor paints and Prismacolor watercolor pencils. I am not so impressed with the texture of the watercolor paper that I have. I hate the way the paint pool into those ridges in the paper. I would like to see a more smoother finish. I painted this from my own reference photo. The watercolor paints I have are not really that of artist quality. I am not seeing the vibrancy whenever I use them. In this painting I used Prismacolor watercolor pencil to get the vibrancy I am looking for. Now I am seriously thinking about changing my medium to acrulic. The artist’s quality watercolor tube are expensive; too much for a hobbyist like me.  I can use acrylic paints and use look them like watercolor. Moreover, they are very affordable.
