Floral Miniatures

September 1, 2009

I have been doing a series of miniatures for the past few days. That explains the gap since my last post. All these miniatures are postcard size (4 by 6 inches) and this is the first time I am doing small scale. I find that miniatures are easy to sketch but time consuming to paint compared to my usual scale. Speaking of which I have begun to appreciate artists who do theirĀ paintings in ACEO(art trade cards). I plan to do a series of miniatures until I run out of steam. Let me see how far I can go keeping in mind that I am not putting myself under pressure. So the visitors can expect a flurry of images in few of my future posts.

Very nice, I have just posted a mini watercolor on my blog of animal eyes. I enjoy mini’s because they’re quick yet eye catching. Again very nice!

    • Thanks smalltowndad! Wish I could visit your blog…but looks like you did not enter the link. Small works are quick if you dont want to fiddle around with details. Speaking of which, I must learn to loosen up.

Raji. These are beautiful. I find it quite a shift to work in miniature, also. Have you visited bethparkerart.wordpress.com? She works in miniature. Keep up the good work. I will be back.
PS Have you tried some Arches coldpress 140, yet?

    • I have been visiting art stores to buy one. Last time, I almost bought it but changed my mind at the last minute. It always happens like that. I usually make several “attempts” before I really buy it! ;) So I will own one soon.I gotta visit Beth’s blog soon. Thanks for the link.

  5. I have just recently tackled a flower myself, it is harder than it looks, you did a nice job here, I need to learn to loosen up my style with this subject, you’ve done it nicely, thanks for sharing your work.
