Canna Miniatures Set 1
September 18, 2009

It looks like I am doing miniatures in series. Though it is quite trying for me to paint in miniatures, I find it to be a great pleasure to look back and enjoy these little gems. I believe they look best if you display them together in groups. I have two more canna miniatures to go and I think I might pause my miniature paintings for the time being. I already miss my usual painting groove.

Raji, the composition on the top painting with the leaves is really neat. I like how all of them are cropped. The colors of the ribbing blend and don’t fight each other. The way the petals fold in and out on the bottom flower make me feel as though they are moving.

Thanks Leslie! I put in a lot of work especially the stripes on the leaves. So labor intensive.

Thanks Anitha! First time I am doing these miniatures of this scale. They are harder to paint especially if you try to put in all the details. The Canna leaves painting was a killer.
