Padma’s Rose

with 11 comments

I did rose in watercolor after a very long time. I was a bit apprehensive to do this rose but it came out well. I used my own photo as reference.

Lake Louise, Canada

This is my first submission to Virtual Sketch Date. The reference photo is provided by Debbie Later. I modified my painting a bit from the reference photo. I felt that in reference photo the mountains seem to be dividing the composition exactly into two halves; so I moved it off-center. I felt like I have improved a bit in acrylic painting. Let us see how it would progress.

The panel is the same as the one I used in my previous painting titled “Reed maces”. Somehow I did not like that painting. I completely gessoed it over and reused the panel for this painting. Isn’t that great?!!

Waterlily Series No.4

After staying away from watercolor for a while, I am happy doing it again. I just completed this painting. For the first time ever, I tried painting waterdrops on one of the petal. I guess it does not appear quite as sharp in the above image but I am quite happy with the result.

Portrait: Sunitha’s Little Angels

with 2 comments

This portrait is nearly done and it took me a very long time to complete mainly because I took lots of breaks in between. It was a bit intimidating to do more than one person in a portrait . Moreover, the boy in the portrait was leaning backward and that made drawing him a bit challenging.  I could not bring an exact likeness while I drew the boy. Let me see if I can improve on him when I finish up this drawing.
